Guestbook ownership transfer

Guestbook owners can transfer a guestbook to another existing Tools user from the guestbook management page.

What is transferred

The transfer changes the actual owner of the guestbook. The guestbook itself is not copied or recreated.

The following stay attached to the same guestbook and therefore move with it:

• Existing guestbook entries.
• Public hosting and embed configuration.
• Theme, site URL, site description and language settings.
• Guestbook-specific notification preferences, including owner notifications when new entries are posted.
• Other settings stored directly on the guestbook.

The previous owner's historical API key association is cleared during the transfer. Historical entry provenance remains unchanged.

How to transfer a guestbook

1. Open My guestbooks.
2. Open the guestbook you own.
3. Select Transfer ownership.
4. Enter the destination Tools user ID.
5. Enter the guestbook name exactly as shown to confirm the transfer.
6. Select Transfer ownership.

The destination account must exist and be enabled.

After a successful transfer, the new owner receives the guestbook management and moderation permissions required by the service. The previous owner no longer has normal owner access to that guestbook.

Safety rules

A transfer is rejected when:

• The selected user does not exist.
• The selected account is disabled.
• The selected user already owns the guestbook.
• The confirmation name does not exactly match the guestbook name.
• The requester is not the current owner.

Guestbook ownership is always determined by the guestbook's current owner, not by historical API keys or previous ownership.
